Local Artists Join Forces to Kick off Fundraising Season for New Performing Arts Center

By Chris Wood

5/15/08

The Supporters of the Performing Arts kicks off its fundraising endeavors this year with a Arts Party, and local Artist’s Auction Friday of Memorial Weekend, May 23rd from 6-8 PM. Local artists Dennis Reinke, Margaret Jensen, Dawn Normali, Charlotte Lloyd, and Mary Jo McGillivray have all donated their works for the cause. The event will be held at Earthwood Collections 141 E. Elkhorn with Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments being served during the party.

All artwork for the auction will be on display in the gallery from Saturday, May 17 through the party itself on Friday, May 23rd. Bids can be placed on any of the artwork anytime during the time they are on display. The estimated retail value and the minimum bid level will be clearly marked with each piece. The winning bidders will be announced at the party on Friday, 5/23 at about 7:00 PM with 100% of the proceeds benefiting SOPA and the construction of a new Performing Arts Center for Estes Park.

To date, just over 1.25M has been raised in cash, pledges and donations for the new Performing Arts Center. Last year’s benefit series raised nearly $12,000 in cash donations for the project. With a goal of $5M, there is still some work to be done before ground breaking. Supporters of the Performing Arts hopes to begin construction of the new facility in the Fall of 2009. All donations and contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowable by law. Visit our website at www.EstesParkTheater.com to find out more about the project, or call chairman Christopher Wood at 970-481-6142.
