Ars Nova Singers Benefit Concert Press Release: 12/10/07 Minimize

SOPA Holiday Concert at the Stanley Concert Hall on Thursday, 12/20/07

Estes Park, CO -- December 10, 2007 – At 7:30PM on Thursday, December 20, the historic Concert Hall at the Stanley Hotel will come alive with holiday music from the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and today. The haunting and lyrical melodies and exquisite performance/setting will offer a wonderful respite from the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. All proceeds from the free-will offering at the concert will directly benefit the new Estes Park Performing Arts Center.

The Ars Nova Singers are a 30-plus-voice semi-professional choral group directed by Thomas Edward Morgan, whose impressive music credentials and informative/educational approach are highly respected in Colorado and National music circles. (It’s possible you may have heard one of their numerous performances on NPR.) Mr. Morgan and his entire organization have expressed active interest in SOPA’s efforts regarding the new performance venue in Estes and have graciously offered their services for this benefit performance.

The Supporters of the Performing Arts (SOPA) also extends its warmest thanks to the following individual program sponsors for this concert:

Castle Mountain Lodge
Linden Bartels and Noe Insurance
Nancy Stevens
McGregor Mountain Lodge

To date, local performing artists have raised nearly $12,000 in the benefit concert series, and hopes that this final concert of the year will put this total over the $15,000 mark. SOPA hopes to have adequate funds in place by this time next year to permit the start of construction of the theater by 2009. 1.2 Million has been raised towards this project thus far in grants, pledges, and cash donations.
