Dynamic Nashville Duo Concludes SOPA’s Summer Concert Series

8/17/10

If previous audience attendance is any indication of the excitement of live quality entertainment on Saturday evenings in performance park (located immediately adjacent the Silver Moon Inn on the west end of Elkhorn Ave.), you will want to come early to get your best seat on the grass as this Saturday will be no different. Mark Selby and Tia Sillers will take to the stage at 7 PM on the 21st to showcase their love of music and song writing in support of SOPA’s (Supporters of the Performing Arts) capital campaign of raising $5 million for a new performing arts center for Estes Park. No tickets are needed for this event, but a free will offering will be taken.

Mark Selby, a gifted guitarist, live performer and songwriter is a native of Oklahoma with a degree in guitar and music composition from Fort Hays University in KS. In the early 90’s he moved to Nashville writing songs for artists such as Wynona Judd, Trisha Yearwood, Lee Roy Parnell and Dixie Chicks to name a few. The song “There’s Your Trouble” went on as a Grammy winning number for the Dixie Chicks and was written by Selby in collaboration with his wife, Tia Sillers who will also perform with Selby on Saturday evening. “Blue on Black” topped his song-writing career with Kenny Wayne Shepherd setting a record of 17 straight weeks and was named Billboard Magazine’s Rock Track of the year.

Mark’s music is described as an “earthy, gritty sound steeped in blues and rootsy rock.” He will join the stage with wife Tia Sillers at 7 PM. You will want to come early to get the best visibility for the performance.

Thus far, SOPA’s fund raising summer concert series has raised nearly $6,000 towards its campaign, but more importantly has brought quality entertainment to over 1,800 visitors and locals alike.
