The Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra (MJO) will present a benefit concert for Supporters of the Performing Arts (SOPA) on this Saturday evening, August 7th at 7 PM at Performance Park. Performance Park is located on the west side of town, riverside adjacent the Sliver Moon Inn. The MJO is known for their extremely varied and exciting repertoire, which spans the musical spectrum from "oldies" to modern day LA/NY big band arrangements. Our two vocalists will please every musical pallet with tunes from Sinatra to Buble and Ella to Ima!
Tickets are not needed for this event, but a free-will offering will be taken to help off set the cost of the concert. This concert is 6th in the summer series for SOPA with a varying and diverse program this year ranging from a piano concert featuring the Steinway, to the most recent concerts by local Oratorio Society of HMS Pinafore and Estes Park’s Jazz Big Band featuring local soloists. Over $5000 has been raised thus far with these various events. The last of the season, Mark Selby and Tia Sellers in concert will feature this Nashville duo on Saturday, August 21st at 7 PM once again in Performance Park.
SOPA continues its efforts in raising funds for a year-round Performing Arts Venue for the community of Estes Park in conjunction with the town’s $1 million commitment. To date, Supporters of the Performing Arts is just under $750,000 away from the half way point in its $6M goal. You too can be a part of this important project by making an inspirational gift today, or by simply attending and being a part of this concert offering. Bring a chair or blanket, and get there early for best seating.
